George Town in Penang as a world heritage site
02 Oct 2025UNESCO has classified George Town in Penang as a world heritage site. The Penang State Government, together with the Local Government (MBPP), has been performing various initiatives, efforts, and commitments to maintain the great status for Malaysia generally and Penang in particular.
On 26 September 2025 (Friday), our City Mayor (Datuk Bandar), Dato’ Ir. Rajendran Anthony, called for a town hall meeting with several organisations, totalling around 30 people attending, to address certain matters of heritage conservation for George Town. This is part of the ongoing efforts of the Penang State Government to ensure sustainable town planning, development, and management.
In this context, our Dato' Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon, PhD (USM), FCILT, FLogM, and Log. Eunice Chang Qi Ying, CMILT, MLogM, had the opportunity to attend the meeting at KOMTAR in Penang.
