A visit by the logistics research team from UMPSA (Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah)

12 Dec 2025

The logistics research team from UMPSA (Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah), led by Prof. Log. Dr. Yudi Fernando, PhD (USM), MLogM (who is also a Vice President of LogM), paid a visit to our office on 8 December 2025 (Mon) to conduct a few interviews on Net-Zero Supply Chain/ Green-based Logistics.

Our Dato' Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon, PhD (USM), FCILT, FLogM; and Log. Ts. Amy Ooi, FCILT, FLogM, who were the named and invited industry experts and senior logisticians.

Our Dato' Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon mentioned that supply chain management, or SCM, is simply defined as the flow of work or processes in the business world, especially in the manufacturing sector. By the way, SCM is usually taught by using models of manufacturing. In reality, we can have many flows of work or processes, i.e., military, manufacturing, shipping, aviation, land transportation, etc. However, it is important to note that SCM does not encompass the entire logistics system. Logistics remains the key term, encompassing a broader scope, various versions, and multiple channels within the related field, which is the responsibility of our professional logisticians.

Our Dato' Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon emphasised that to address Net-Zero Supply Chain/ Green-Based Logistics, we must consider both the internal and external factors of an initiative. PESTLE serves as a reference for external factors, while budget is the key internal variable, alongside objectives, goals, planning, coordination, and management, as advised by our Dato' Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon in the session.

We hosted a lunch for the team from UMPSA, and Dato' Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon presented the special souvenirs from X-Press Feeders to both Prof. Log. Dr. Yudi Fernando and Log. Leong Kin Wah, FCILT, FLogM (who is also an AK alumnus and Managing Director of EW Logistics in Malaysia) at the meeting.

X-Press Feeders is ranked no. 13 among ocean carriers in the world by Alphaliner (2025).
